To eat in peace and have body confidence regardless of your size.
I’m here to help people of all ages, sizes, sex and race to learn to respect their bodies, eat without guilt and work on self-acceptance– regardless of the size of their pants– and in so doing, ensure that children of the future change the way they see themselves and their relationship with food.
I have helped thousands of clients with their health and diets over the years.
I know that what makes the real difference, isn’t just the food they’re eating, there’s so much more to this picture.
People (especially women) spend way too much time obsessing about their weight.
Food becomes the enemy, something to be battled.
We yo-yo diet and blame ourselves when we don’t achieve our ‘ideal weight’.
It’s not your fault; society has painted a picture and sets an expectation of what is ‘accepted’ and ‘normal’, hello diet culture.
Forgetting to mention that no one person is the same, we are born with our individual height, eye colour, shoe size and body shape!
Enough is enough, we need to be the role models we never had!
It starts today.
I love to eat and I don’t deprive myself when it comes to food. And you shouldn’t have to either.
Little more about me:
I welcome you; regardless of your size, shape, sex, race or religion to help you understand and overcome your food, diet, health and weight loss challenges – then work with you to help you feel good about yourself.
I recognise my privileges and don’t have an elaborate story to tell about my own relationship with food and my body, HOWEVER, my 15 years’ experience in the field and zone of genius is empathy and really ‘getting’ what my clients tell me, I can read between the lines and see the bigger picture.
I am a great listener and I believe that if I can help one person change their relationship with food, break free from this messed up world of dieting, body hatred and discrimination against people of a size that doesn’t fit the ‘norm’ we can change the future for our children, so they don’t have to suffer.
Dieting and wanting to ‘fit in’ with what society predict as what is acceptable is bull shit and it is affecting our mental health.
Being healthy has nothing to do with your size.
Socio economics, stress, prejudice, racism, lifestyle and lack of movement have far bigger implications on health and well-being.
Therefore, I happily and enthusiastically follow the Health At Every Size (HAES) principles which supports body diversity and non-diet approaches to health and well-being.
I am starting a teacher training course at the Oxford Mindfulness centre (OMC) for Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) in October which I am very excited about and to embody this practice for myself and to help my clients is an incredible privilege and gift, which I would love to return in helping more people.
The official bits:
I qualified at BCNH (British College of Nutrition and Health) in 2006, with a level 6 , 4 year diploma in Nutritional Therapy and trained as a chef in South Africa at WITS Hotel School in 1996.
The last few years I have heavily invested in various coaching training and techniques including ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) ITS coaching modules, Zest4Life Health coaching and The Thinking Environment.
I was part of the ‘Connect and discover’ research project at Morley College focusing on food and mood for people with mild to moderate mental health challenges.
I taught on the Natural Chef’s Course at CNM (College of Naturopathic Medicine) and various other short courses.
I was on the Zest4Life team coaching newly qualified nutritional therapists.
I host food demos and workshops from my kitchen table and do regular 6 week group programs for people who want to break free from emotional eating and discover food freedom.
I’m down to earth, supportive, honest and realistic. I’m the friendly motivator, empathetic listening ear and qualified professional you need to make lasting, fulfilling changes to life and relationship with food and body.
I love African drumming, 5-star hotels and glamping alike, muddy off road running and have recently done a few surfing lessons.
I love being in nature and left London because I needed to be surrounded by a different type of beauty.
I’m an avid reader, love learning and want to help make this world a better place than when I arrived, for the sake of my daughter.
